Caledon is now home to something truly special: the first and only one of its kind Olympic Golf Trophy.

The historic trophy was won by Canadian golfer George S. Lyon at the 1904 Summer Olympics in St. Louis, Missouri, where he won Olympic gold. Standing approximately 18 inches tall, this 122 year old remarkable trophy is the first and only Olympic Golf Trophy of its kind, making it a rare artifact in Olympic golf history.

George Lyon's victory is especially significant because golf disappeared from the Olympic Games for more than a century after the 1904 Olympics, returning only in 2016. That means Canada held the title of reigning Olympic golf champion for 112 years.

The trophy was later donated by Lyon's son to Golf Canada's Hall of Fame. Today, this extraordinary piece has found its home in our beautiful Caledon at Golf Canada's head office (1564 Beech Grove Sideroad, Caledon, ON, Canada, L7K 1R3)

With Golf Canada now calling Caledon home, our community is also home to the first and only Olympic Golf Trophy of its kind. 

Having Golf Canada now located in Caledon is a remarkable asset to our community. This rare piece of history gives Caledon a special connection to one of Canada’s greatest Olympic golf moments and artifact.
